President's Message

It is with heartfelt enthusiasm that I welcome you on behalf of the Bexar Area Alumnae Chapter (BAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! We are delighted that you’ve taken the time to visit our webpage and learn more about who we are, what we do, and how we serve.

Since our founding on April 12, 2014, BAAC has remained steadfast in its commitment to uplifting communities through sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. As you explore our site, we invite you to browse our photo galleries, view our calendar of events, and discover the many programs and initiatives that keep our chapter actively engaged throughout Bexar (excluding San Antonio), Comal, and Guadalupe counties. From voter registration efforts to youth development programs like Delta Academy and Delta GEMS, our members are dedicated to creating meaningful, lasting change.

Our chapter goals focus on:

Sisterhood:  Reclaiming, retaining, and engaging Sorors, fostering collaboration and inclusivity, and reintroducing in-person chapter meetings to deepen connection.

Scholarship: Expanding our academic impact by reaching girls in rural communities, building sustainable scholarship funding, and partnering with churches, schools, and colleges to increase scholarship awareness.

Service:  Enhancing community service through cross-committee collaboration, engagement with Delta’s charitable partners, and partnerships with local agencies supporting women and children.

Social Action:  Amplifying advocacy by coordinating voter‑registration partnerships, maintaining a presence at school board and city council meetings, and educating the community on policies affecting vulnerable populations.

Our goals extend far beyond individual projects. We strive to create a ripple effect of positive transformation by partnering with local organizations, schools, churches, and community groups, and by executing programming that supports our sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development

  • Educational Development

  • International Awareness and Involvement

  • Physical and Mental Health

  • Political Awareness and Involvement/Social Action

As you navigate our webpage, we hope you gain a true sense of the passion, purpose, and unity that define our chapter. Each photo, event, and initiative reflects the heart of our work and our members' commitment to strengthening the communities we proudly serve.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to learn more about BAAC. We invite you to stay connected, attend our public events, follow us on social media, and join us in our efforts to inspire, uplift, and make a difference. Together, we can continue to create meaningful change and leave an indelible mark on the communities around us.

In Sisterhood and Service,

Dr. Vanessa M. Nason

President, Bexar Area Alumnae Chapter
